Noga Rauch is an illustrator and a comics artist who lives in Paris. We had the pleasure of getting to know her during an art fair in Jaffa some years ago. She made this sketch of us crocheting rings and necklaces then. We like Noga’s work a lot so we were very glad when she sent us the sketch and we decided to put it at our about page.
You can find more of Noga’s great stuff at her flickr and at the weekly comics blog of Plan B.

This week’s top of the list: Of Montreal!
of Montreal is an American indie pop band formed in Athens, Georgia, fronted by Kevin Barnes. It was among the second wave of groups to emerge from the Elephant Six Collective.
Etsy is a great site and you can really find amazing stuff there. The problem is that because of the magnitude of crafters offering their handiworks at this crowded site - it can be a little hard to sift the grains from the chaff.
I have found that “favorite jumping” can be a very good (but not very efficient if your looking from something specific) way of finding real gems that I never would have found in any other way. I check the favorites of people whose things I like (I figured that if I liked their style, there’s a good chance that we’d like similar things) and continue to follow their favorites and the favorites of their favorites and so on.
On one of these favorite jumping excursions I found the store Tummy Ache – and I really, really like the things she’s doing. Behind the store is Australian artist and illustrator Jules Knoblock. She makes all kind of things – prints, quilts, buttons, bags, purses and more. Her things have some kind of perky quirkiness to them that makes me smile. My favorite items are her “Oh Deer” purse (above) and of course her take on Bambi. Look at those heart shaped buttons!
Jules Knoblock also has a blog where she posts pictures of her new stuff and also writes about the process of making them. As an avid printer (lino, screenprint) myself I really enjoyed reading the post about how she was getting excited over trying out a new printing technique, Gocco, with the help of her father. I’m not familiar with this technique - I have to find our more about it.
If you want to get out on a favorite jumping - start from mine and see where they tell take you!
